The meeting was attended by representatives of the Communications Administrations of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and the Russian Federation and also the CIS Executive Committee, Secretariat of the UN European Economic Commission and the Commission of the customs union.
Welcoming remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus gave the Director of the Department of Information Andrey Ilyin.
The meeting was chaired by Director of the Department of Public Policy in the creation and development of e-Government of Ministry of Communications Andrey Y. Lipov.
During the meeting, the Commission had before it the actual directions of cooperation between the countries of the RCC, which are reflected in the draft Strategy for Cooperation of CIS member-states in building and development of Information Society and Action Plan for its implementation until 2015. These documents were sent to the CIS Executive Committee for approval in the prescribed manner by the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
During the meeting, members reported on the use of e-government technology for development and modernization of their economies. Also at the meeting there was a model project on construction and operation of cross-border confidence-space of the CIS. In this area of cooperation it is assumed that the RCC Informatization Commission will ensure coordination of the RCC participants' countries on standardization in information technology and the formation of cross-border space of trust with the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT).
This meeting of the Commission was held on the eve of the meeting of the Coordination Council of CIS member states for Informatization attached to the RCC, which will be held on June 2, 2011 in Yerevan (Armenia).
